1. What stood out at you in this article? What was something that you were surprised by? What was the author's main point about why countries go to war?
The author's main point was the three groupings of why countries go to war. The three groupings are Wars of Aggression (Conquest, expansion, influence, etc), Wars of Need (Resource acquisition, defense, etc.), and Wars of Liberation(Counter-attack,freedom reunion, etc). In many wars opposite sides see themselves fighting different kind of wars then what the other side sees them fighting.
2. In your article, what does the author say about war? Give me some reasons why he/she stated countries fight wars. What does the author believe about why wars happen? Give detail to support your answers.
In my article the author mentioned World War II and the Civil War. H talked about how in those wars the opposite sides didn't agree on what kind of war they were fighting. In the Civil War the South saw themselves fighting a War of Liberation and saw the North fighting a War of Aggression, but the North saw itself fighting a War of Liberation and saw the South fighting a War of Aggression.
3. What is your opinion of what the author stated as reasons countries go to war? What do you agree/disagree with? Give me at least 2 reasons that you believe countries go to war? Why do you think this is true?
I think that countries go to war to gain more land or for more freedom.
4. Why is it important to be able to compromise? Give me a time when you had to make a compromise with someone? What happened? Why did it happen? What was the compromise? Did you feel like it was a win-win compromise? If not, why?
One time when my family and i were going out to eat i wanted to go to Texas Road House but my brother wanted to go to Applebees. I had to make a comprimise and go to Applebees. It wasn't really a win-win comprimise because i he got his way.

First post!
Why do you think that countries go to war with each other?
Countries go to war over land, government, and anything else they disagree on. I think that we should not go to war on things like theese. The countries should talk about it and work it out so they are both happy.
Give me a time when you had a conflict with someone. What happened? Why did it happen? How did you resolve it? What is your relationship like now?
Me and two friends had a big fight over the summer of 2007. One of the girls felt like they were getting left out and got mad at the girls, but when ever she got mad the girls left her out more. One day we got in a pretty big fight and we didnt talk or hang out for weeks. We were the best of friends, but it all fell apart that summer, but one day we had a long talk and worked it all out. For awhile it was really awkward to hang out with the girls but now it is very normal. We have a great relationship now and i dont know what i would do if i didnt have them as friends.
